MODON establishes logistics center in Sudair for SAR 60 mln

Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) signed an agreement with Brands for Less (BFL) Group to establish a fully automated logistics distribution center in Sudair Industrial City over 38,000 square meters (sqm), Saudi Press Agency reported.

The project, whose cost is estimated at nearly SAR 60 million, aims to offer logistical solutions with high added value to support the retail of the group’s brands.

MODON indicated that the project provides around 350 job opportunities and is planned to serve 75 branches across the Kingdom to support the group’s e-commerce segment that includes nearly three million diverse products. In addition, the move aims to facilitate the connectivity with the Kingdom's regions and governorates quickly, based on a stimulating investment environment and distinguished digital infrastructure in the industrial city.

Ali Alomeir, Vice President of Business Development at MODON, said the authority aims to activate the logistics centers included in the logistic centers masterplan which was launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He added that MODON has 17 out of 59 logistics centers across the Kingdom. They include logistical services and products, as well as international and regional distribution areas in partnership with the private sector.

MODON seeks to develop the infrastructure of the logistics sector, in addition to launching logistical products and solutions, including logistical land plots, ready-made warehouses, self-storage warehouses, and distribution centers, Alomeir said.

He added that the logistical areas in the industrial cities reached 3.5 million sqm and the logistics contracts totaled 357 until 2022.
