Makkah and Madinah are expected to see the addition of 110,000 rooms by 2030 to meet the needs of Hajj pilgrims, Colliers International said in a report.
 
The consultancy added there were 894,700 rooms in the Gulf region in 2021, with 70% concentrated in Saudi Arabia.
 
Furthermore, more than 100,000 rooms will be added in the Gulf countries by 2026, taking the tally to over one million. Most of these rooms will be in Saudi Arabia, followed by the UAE.
 
The report expected that 700,000 individuals would be employed in the hotel sector in Saudi Arabia and UAE. The Gulf region will likely need to employ more than 90,000 professionals in the hospitality sector by 2026, with 82,000 of them working in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
