SAGO says no grain supply crisis amid Russia-Ukraine war

Saudi Grains Organization’s (SAGO) Deputy Governor Zaid Al-Shabanat said that there is no grains supply crisis within the Kingdom due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.

This is due to the organization's strategy, which relies on different sources in multiple countries and continents, not just one source, he added in a TV interview.

The official also stressed that grain stocks exist and the proportion of grain imported by the Kingdom from Russia and Ukraine could be compensated from North America, South America, or Europe.

Meanwhile, Al-Shabanat said a contract was signed last month to secure a large amount of grain, which will be in the Kingdom's markets during Q4 2022.

He indicated that SAGO is working as part of its strategic plan to continuously feed its stockpile, as there is a certain percentage of local wheat grown under the guidance of the leadership.
