Saudi aviation strategy aims to double sector’s contribution to GDP to $75 bln by 2030: Official

Saudi Arabia’s aviation strategy aims to double the sector contribution to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product (GDP) to $75 billion by 2030 from current $21 billion, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), told Al-Arabiya TV.  

The strategy will contribute to creating 1.2 million direct jobs and 2 million indirect jobs. The strategy is a key enabler of Saudi Vision 2030, as it supports many initiatives and programs, and aims to place the Kingdom again on top of the aviation industry in the Middle East.  

On the other hand, Al-Duailej added that the Kingdom launched the unified policy for travel measures infinitive, as unclarity and the great difference in travel measures and protocols were among the challenges faced by the sector during the COVID-19 pandemic, which will impact the pre-pandemic normalization.

The initiative was submitted for study and approval in September, he noted.
