Sulieman Albassam Advisor to GACA President for Governance and Executive Projects

The major strategic project to transform 25 airports from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to Matarat Holding is one of the objectives of the air transport strategy derived from Vision 2030, said Sulieman Albassam, Advisor to GACA President for Governance and Executive Projects.
 

On the sidelines of celebrating the completion of Saudi airports corporatization, Albassam told reporters said the separation between the legislative and operational aspects in implementing the Royal Decree is a very important stage to enable the airports to achieve financial sustainability and ensure that GACA performs its basic legislative and regulatory roles. 
 

The integration of roles between GACA, airports and carrier companies will contribute to achieving the high ambitions of carrying 330 million passengers by 2030, as well as boosting the global air connectivity to 250 destinations, so that the Kingdom will be the fifth country in the global connectivity.
 

The corporatization will also contribute to achieving the goals of the air transport capacity to reach 4.5 million tons by 2030, the top official said.
 

He added that the move will help the country rank first in the Middle East’s civil aviation industry, in addition to developing airports and the quality of services provided for travelers.
