Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman unveiled today, Sept. 28, a strategy to develop Aseer region into a global tourism destination under the theme "The Arabian Highland".

The strategy will aim to achieve a "comprehensive, unprecedented and sustainable growth for the region" through an investment of SAR 50 billion to finance vital projects and develop tourism attractions on and around the peaks of the Aseer mountains.

The Crown Prince also announced that the strategy seeks to make Aseer region an all-year-round global tourist destination, catering to more than 10 million visitors from within and outside the Kingdom by 2030.

The strategy is underpinned by the natural assets of the region, which will be utilized through qualitative tourist projects, that will highlight the mountain peaks, its geographic and natural diversity, as well as its cultural heritage, Saudi Press Agency reported.

He also highlighted that the Aseer strategy seeks to attract local and international investments, which will contribute to producing effective economic momentum through activating an integrated system to facilitate measures, and reinforce the role of tourism and culture as major drivers for economic development mechanisms in Aseer.

The Crown Prince further added that the strategy will contribute by 2030 to providing new job opportunities, in addition to raising the quality of life and improving the region's basic services and infrastructure, including communication, healthcare, transport, and other enablers.
