Support for local products and prioritizing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) among those bidding for government tenders will boost local content and help bolster the national economy, SPA reported, citing Bandar Alkhorayef, chairman of the Local Content & Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA).
He stressed on the key role of LCGPA to develop local content and maximize the importance of government purchasing power of the local products.
Alkhorayef urged the LCGPA employees to double their efforts in order to increase the effect of local content on the national economy.
National industries and service providers are qualified to efficiently implement strategies and plans, and achieve the sustainable economic development, he indicated.
Earlier this week, King Salman issued a royal decree to relieve Ghassan Al-Shibl, who served as chairman of the Local Content & Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA), of his post, and appointed Bandar Alkhorayef to replace him.
