Flexible work system likely to attract up to 30,000 Saudis in upcoming months: deputy minister

The flexible work system will likely lead 20,000-30,000 Saudi citizens to join the labor market over the next months, CNBC Arabia reported, citing Ghazi Al-Shahrani, Deputy Minister for Nationalization at Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD).

"We have recently organized 12 workshops between young jobseekers and the private sector entities, and both parties revealed pressing need for the flexible work system," Al-Shahrani added.

In 2021, many business activities will be able to capitalize on the flexible work system, after proving successful.

“Flexible work is likely to be mostly adopted by restaurants, cafes, retail activities, hotels, entertainment and information technology sectors,” the deputy minister expected.

Ahmed Al-Rajhi, Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, launched mrn.sa, platform on Wednesday to register flexible work contracts between employees and employers. Al-Rajhi said that the flexible work program would contribute to boosting the Kingdom’s economy — at the levels of enterprises and individuals — to achieve the objectives of Vision 2030 by increasing the number of local cadres integrated into the job market.
