Saudi Ground Services terminates CEO secondment, accepts transfer to Saudia unit; appoints Al-Idrissi as CEO

Saudi Ground Services Co.’s (SGS) board of directors decided, on Aug. 5, to terminate the secondment of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Captain Fahd Hamza Cynndy, according to a bourse filing today, Aug. 8.

 

The board also accepted his transfer to a subsidiary of Saudia Airlines Holding, with retroactive effect from July 8, 2021.

 

The board's decision included the continuation of Cynndy as a board member, as he recently held the position of CEO of Saudi Aerospace Engineering Industries (SAEI).

 

The statement added that the board ratified the appointment and confirmation of Raed H. Al-Idrissi as CEO, with retroactive effect from July 8, 2021.

 

Al-Idrissi holds the position of Executive Vice President of Operations at SGS from Nov. 24, 2019. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and an executive Master's degree in Business Administration from KFUPM, as well as many courses on executive leadership training.

 

He has more than 20 years of experience in various leadership positions at Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco), the most recent of which was the Head of Ground Services Operations in the aviation sector, Head of Operation in residential neighborhoods, and Head of the Contracts Department in the well drilling sector.

 

In January, SGS announced that Cynndy seconded to its subsidiary SAEI as CEO for six months, extendable, effective as of Feb. 1, 2021. Additionally, Al-Idrissi was named acting CEO as of Feb. 1, 2021, for six months – extendable, Argaam reported.
