US oil inventories fell by 1.9 million barrels during the week ended July 5, the American Petroleum Institute (API) data showed.

 

Gasoline stocks decreased by 3 million barrels during the past week. Distillate stocks (including diesel and heating oil) increased by about 2.3 million barrels.

 

Meanwhile, Brent crude slid 1.25%, or $1.09, to close at $84.66 a barrel on July 9. WTI crude fell 1.1%, or 92 cents, to record $81.41 per barrel.
