Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Development Fund (TDF) signed, on June 14, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Melia Hotels International to bring new tourism concepts to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Eastern Region.
The MoU was signed by the fund’s CEO Qusai Al-Fakhri and Melia Hotels CEO and Vice Chairman Gabriel Escarrer. The agreement aims to develop three tourist destinations, focusing mainly on the concepts of tourism and entertainment at more than SAR 1 billion in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Region, which are the main destinations identified by the National Tourism Strategy.
Al-Fakhri said: “The MoU with Melia Hotels is an extension of our ongoing efforts to drive tourism development in the Kingdom in line with both the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Tourism Strategy.
“We always strive for sector growth and prosperity through MoUs and partnerships that will provide outstanding experiences and services, ultimately enhancing the Kingdom’s overall tourism value proposition.”
Melia Hotels CEO Gabriel Escarrer said that Saudi Arabia's natural and geographic diversity offers promising opportunities to develop high-quality hospitality projects.
“We are committed to developing these three projects according to the highest international standards and in line with the Kingdom’s distinct identity on the world stage,” he noted.
