Saudi Electricity Co.’s (SEC) operational plans for the Hajj season 1442 AH are complete through the implementation of new projects in Makkah region and the holy sites, with a value exceeding SAR 480 million, the company said in a statement.
The utility provider raised the readiness level by appointing work teams in various holy sites.
The new projects aim to strengthen the electrical system as the preventive maintenance programs along with requests for electrical service delivery to camps, facilities, government and private agencies in Makkah and the holy sites have been completed, said company’s acting CEO Khaled bin Hamad Al-Gnoon.
He added that 7,785 mechanical electricity meters were replaced with smart meters in Al Mashaer.
Al-Gnoon referred to the implementation of a plan to enhance the capacity and reliability of the electrical networks in Arafat, which will stop the use of rented generators and increase levels of safety and security.
More than 700 engineers, technicians, and specialists are working around the clock to implement the operational plan for this year's Hajj season, he stated.
